Operation Green Scheme: It is not necessary to produce fruits and vegetables in the country. It is also necessary that fruits and vegetables should reach every end of every state of India. Experts say that it is necessary to have supply with production, if the coordination of supply with production deteriorates, then fruits or vegetables will start becoming expensive. The central government is taking all possible steps to improve the supply of fruits and vegetables.

Operation Green to supply fruits and vegetables

The central government is constantly trying to improve the supply of fruits and vegetables in the country. Operation Green has been started regarding this. Its benefit has been so much that the supply has improved in different markets of the states. Due to this, the ups and downs in the prices of fruits and vegetables in the market have come to an end.

Rs 2500 crore will be spent

To make Operation Green a success, work has been started on three registered projects related to it. Its effect is being seen in the fruit-vegetable market of the country. Experts say that the central government will spend around Rs 2500 crore to make these projects successful. Other ministries are also cooperating for the success of the scheme.

Central government is giving 50 percent subsidy

The central government is also giving subsidy to make Operation Green a success. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the project is working in two ways. First, the government pays up to 50 percent of the transportation cost of transporting the crops from the farmers’ fields to the market. This will reduce the burden on farmers, businessmen and the prices will be controlled in the market. Second, raw crops and fruits do not get spoiled while being transported to the market, for this they will also be kept properly reserved for a long time.

22 crops included in Operation Green

The central government has included many crops in Operation Green. 22 other crops have been included along with the three major vegetable tomato, onion and potato (top) already fixed. The Ministries of Agriculture, Food, Consumer Affairs, Food Processing, Railways and Civil Aviation are involved in making Operation Green a success.

Private sector invested Rs 1752 crore

Private sector companies were invited in November 2022 to make both the projects of Operation Green a success. Out of 56 applications received in the first phase, consent has been given to 46. The cost of these projects is likely to exceed Rs 22 crore. Rs 1752 crore has been invested in it from the private sector level. This will increase the capacity of total food processing to 8.25 lakh tonnes, as well as increase the cold storage capacity of 1.81 lakh tonnes of raw produce (perceable).
